If you pre-order EQ2 you could very well get the bonus cd's. Some retailers aren't offering the cd's so make sure to ask before purchase.
Its a two disc set and I'm quite satisfied with mine. On the two disc are the following:
1)System scan program
Its a web based program that scans your computer and presents a chart comparing your results to required and recommended stats.
2)Sample Music
Not usually a big deal but this music is great! Seriously its the best game music I've ever heard. I've been listening to it all night. Total are 4 songs. 3 are selectable and the 4th plays over and over on the main menu. All are in .mp3 format.
3)Gameplay Video
This can be downloaded off the internet. Its the E3 or "In depth" movie that some of you might already know. If not then you can download it here: http://everquest2.station.sony.com/#mediaMovies If you only see one movie about this game then this is the movie to see.
4)Offical Trailer & "Making Of"
This is basically two movies put together. The second part is the "EQ goes to the movies" in the above link. The first part is only a minute or two long and quickly covers some basic development of the game.
5)Lore
Part of the story of what happened in Norrath the past 500 years.
6)Fan Club
Basically a link to join the fan club. Also contains all the fan site kit materials. I believe they are also available on the website.
7)Wallpaper
4 available wallpapers. New to me but might be old.
8)Journeyman Boots
Part of the bonus set is the journeyman boots. You have to mark your account to recieve them. Only 1 character can accept these boots. I'm not sure if its the first character you make or if you can give them to any charcter.
9)Create Your Character
The main reason for a lot of people to buy the pre-order was for this ability. This program takes you through the entire character creation process. You can name and save all characters. The process works much like that in SWG with a bit more detail and better graphics of course.
10)You get an access code to view an exclusive area of the prima guide website. There is a lot of info on each race and city.
In conclusion I think this set is well worth the expense to those excited for the release of EQ2. I'm a bit disappointed that a fair amount of the material is old and can be found on the website. However the music and character creation process make up for any lackings. All in all its a good buy for the eager fan but if your interest is simply mild then keep the money.
